The original idea of a Preschool facility came from Judi Walls, Deputy Principal and New Entrant Teacher of Manaia Primary School. It was Judi's dream. Community interest was established, a committee formed, sponsorship and grants secured.

On Monday the 1st of March 1999 Manaia Community Preschool (licensed for 28 children) opened its doors in a vacant classroom at Manaia Primary School.

Fundraising then began for a purpose-built centre, and construction of the premises began in May 2000 by Arthur Brown Construction. The new premises were completed and moved into in Term 4, 2000.

Our Preschool is a Stand Alone community based centre that is governed by a team of very energetic and dedicated parents and community members, whom together form our Management Committee.

As a stand alone Preschool we are committed to ensuring our children have quality resources and materials available to support their learning and development.
