Te Whaariki, the Early Childhood Curriculum and Manaia Community Preschool's philosophy are woven together to form the basis of the programme at Manaia Community Preschool. Children and their whaanau are welcomed and settled into the Preschool by the teaching team, with support and emphasis surrounding the Preschool's over-arching goals of Independence, Social Skills, Emotional Well-being/Sense of identity and fostering a love of learning through Inquiry. We build trusting relationships with the children and their whaanau, and offer time for uninterrupted exploration, in keeping with the principles and strands of the Early Childhood Curriculum. Children and whaanau lead the programme through having the opportunity to make choices, participate, and interact. This offers a sense of empowerment to the child and their whaanau, to make their own decisions regarding their early childhood education journey.
